Eating their greens

As typical toddlers, the boys have this innate resistance to veggies.
I never had this problem with Little Miss, thus feeding the boys their greens as been a new and infuriating challenge. I have tried chopping them into tiny pieces and adding them to meatballs. I have tried them pureed into a pasta sauce. All very contrived and time consuming.

But there is now hope! Yes folks, the boys have discovered a new game called pit (pick) and eat. You pick a Malabar Red spinach leaf straight from the vine (while Mum tries to prevent the destruction of said vine) and you eat it fresh and crisp! Yum yum. But it only seems to taste good when you "pit" it yourself. The baby was spitting it out until he was able to do the "pitting", then suddenly it took on a new and exciting flavour. Hey, whatever works!

Larry, Curly and Moe

Yesterday night, after many threats of having to stay up all night hungry until her project on convicts was done properly, Little Miss finally did a page of the most coherent writing I've ever seen from her. To top that, at 9 o'clock at night, after continuously interrupting my attempts to write a year 7 test, I gave up and did some work with her on algbera (yes, she is 8) and fractions. And she actually understood. More than that, she enjoyed doing it! There is hope for her yet!

More progress from Naughty Monkey who is now talking quite well. He tries to copy phrases and new words and is quite successful. His father (who has been away for almost 3 weeks) is going to fall over me thinks. I love the "no" pronounced no-wwww! Hopefully soon we'll learn yes.

Then there is Cheeky Chicky. What can I say? What a little character. His brother hit him, bites him, lies on him and generally pisses him off. What does he do in return? Nicks Monkey's stuff and runs off! Good onya kid!

Over engineering

My eight year old has proven that there is nothing like an engineer (or wonna-be engineer) to over engineer a problem.
My cuddlier half and I have struggled to build great and elaborate structures to progress through the most addictive game of goo (World of Goo) ever devised (or contrived).
So Little Miss just powers through the level, never failing, never turning back.
FUCK ME DEAD!

Little shit

So Mr poor me, I'm just 13 months old was screaming his tits off at 9:30 at night, which he does, but being over the whole night time feeding, tonight I decided he could live with just a drink of water which he took a sip of and then rejected. Well, after considerable more screaming I gave in and made milk, but he would not take the bottle. Eventually I said to him "take it, it's milk" and immediately the tanty stopped and he took the bottle. There was perfect evidence that the little shit can understand what we say, it's just that when we say "go to sleep" he chooses not to comply.

They've come a long way

Little Monkey is talking now. It's actually a relief as the screaming is slowly replaced with intelligible phrases. I love it when he gets up in the morning and says "Morning"

Ok, who am I kidding.. the screaming is rife from all three of them.
Monkey is now being sent to the corner for screaming. It works like a charm. Infact, it's so effective he once took himself to the corner mid screaming to calm himself down. Once out of the corner he started screaming again, so he decided to return there and have a good thumb suck. All the while, Mum's sitting on the floor pissing herself laughing.

Chicky is not all that far behind. He makes distinguishable sounds and puts his pointing finger to good use. And that walk of his is hilarious. His whole body tenses up in determination as he throws each short leg forward. I have a video of it somewhere...

This morning Chicky had a ball that Monkey wanted. Monkey tried to take it off him but Chicky bolted across the back yard. Even when he finally fell and Monkey had him by the hair he did not give it up. Good onya kid. That's some determination.

As far as little Miss goes, Mr Hyde has reared it's ugly head again, but yet she is showing signs of cognitive advancement. I was very impressed to learn Little Miss is familiar with the notion of strategies and more importantly, creating her own. Dr Jekyll was in residence a couple of weeks ago and I have to say, he is a far nicer house guest.
She has been invited to a Dr Who birthday party and we're thinking of making a Darlek outfit. I'm thinking trip to Bunnings for a garbage bin. I must remember to post a pic.
